All silicone gaskets and seals are in excellent condition for sand and water resistance. Runs efficiently on one AA battery (not included); Sony estimates 32 hours of tape playback or 50 hours of radio playback on one high-quality alkaline AA battery (your mileage may vary (YMMV)). We take it for granted now, but it is remarkable how good Sony got at packing accurate broad range punch in such a small and durable package.

Includes handstrap/waistbelt clip.
